Hi! My name is Ed. I setup this site to share with friends and family my experience preparing for and doing the Silk Road Mountain Race (SRMR).

SRMR is an off-road, self-supported bikepacking race through mountains of Kyrgyzstan. The route includes long hike-a-bike sections, numerous river crossings and several mountain passes above 13,000 ft. The course is 1,100 miles long with nearly 100,000 feet of climbing.

Prior to registering for the event, I had never actually been bikepacking. But I have been racing bikes for over 30 years and I’ve done a lot of backpacking. I’m hoping this experience combined with a lot of training,  planning and luck will be enough to get me to the finish line. No matter what, it’s going to be an adventure.

Additional info about the race including race tracker can be found on the SRMR website: Click Here
